Confess your sin.
People call me Father, but I prefer Frank because I’m the worst preacher you’ll ever meet.
Days spent completely wasted pull a number on you, especially when you’ve got a truckload of baggage that comes with it.
Until this beautiful girl in the back of the church takes my breath away.
…And we end up committing sacrilege in the confessional.
Did I mention I’m filthy?
Bad doesn’t even begin to describe me, and after one taste of what she’s got to offer, I want more.
Too bad having a dirty mind isn’t the only thing we’ve got in common…
Our past is laced with sin.
Author’s Note: This book is not for everyone. It’s raw. It’s vulgar. It’s downright offensive. But it’s oh so damn delicious with a capital D. If you are easily offended or prudish, please don’t read this book. But if you like a bit of humor mixed in with raunchiness and brawling, you’ll love this book.
Contains disturbing situations, strong language, and graphic violence.
I learned the hard way to take this author's warnings seriously. So please read the warning carefully and proceed with caution before opting to read this dirty, dirty, DIRTY book. If you read Priest by Sierra Simone and are expecting something similar, this is not it. The book is told from the first person POV of Frank, an alcoholic, kinky, filthy mouthed "preacher". Immediately we learn that he's not a normal preacher and he has a troubled past, including memories he's desperately trying to run away from (thus the drinking). His sermons are gritty (and (bless my heart) mildly comical in their inappropriateness) and his take on confessional advice is certainly not what you'd expect from a man of God (or Dear Abby, or anyone with a smudge of common sense, self-preservation, or decorum). But then you get glimpses of goodness inside of him and it makes the character tolerable (and even likable to an extent) until the next time he opens his mouth.
Anyway, he finds himself enthralled by one of his parishioners immediately upon seeing her. And it's a good thing too, because they are a match made in dirty filthy things heaven (her first confessional is a doozy).
I don't know if I have the right words to say how I feel about the book. I read it. Couldn't put it down really. I don't know how the author managed to make the characters so gritty (and filthy) yet likable - it's a talent, a mark of true skill. So if you can handle taboo with a grain of salt and aren't easily offended and can successfully suspend your sense of morality for entertainment's sake and have a healthy sense of humor - dive in. I give it 4 out of 5 wine glasses - because it takes a real mastery of words and understanding of human character to pen a book like Father. Collars off to you Clarissa Wild...
