Blog Tour and Review: Defy by LJ Shen

Title: Defy
Series: Sinners of Saints #0.5
Author: L.J Shen
Genre: Contemporary Romance

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.

So... let me preface this by saying: the week before I read Defy, my daughter forced me to watch come clips of the Dr. Phil show where a female teacher had an affair with a male student and the whole situation made my skin crawl - but mostly because the teacher was an IDIOT of epic proportions. So needless to say I was utterly flabbergasted at how much I LOVED this tale of forbidden romance... Well, maybe not exactly flabbergasted, since I'd already read (and LOVED) Vicious, I had a clue as to the nature of Jamie and Melody's relationship and had also developed the predisposition to be FULLY on board with whatever (the goddess) LJ Shen wanted to do with the HotHoles of Todos Santos.

It must be stated that Jamie is of legal age AND Melody is relatively young, which makes the relationship a bit more palatable for those that might be skeptical. Also, you eventually discover that while obviously the affair jumps off because of a strong physical (and oh so steamy) attraction between the two main characters, it's not its sole or strongest basis - there is actual factual love (and a bit of stalkery obsession) involved. And it's all so well written that even if the taboo premise makes you squirmy, it's so so worth it - even if it's just an intro to Vicious, Dean, Trent, and Jamie (aka: the aforementioned HotHoles).

I give Defy 4.5 out of five stars - and the only reason it's short a half is because I wish it was longer and I'm greedy like that. So basically, go read it now! And then read Vicious. And then join me, as I wait with baited breath for Ruckus (Trent's story) to release!

"It was sexy and steamy and everything I've come to expect from this author." - Ariana, Steamy Reads Blog.

"Holy Heck this was Hot!! If I wasn't hooked on this series before I sure am now!! These boys just get dirtier, hotter, off the rails panty wetting hot!!" - Kitty Katz Crazy About Books.

"Forbidden romance has never been so well done! And this is a novella!" - Stephanie, Tied Up In Romance.
